I think most people know about Mills Park here in Carson City. It's huge! It's full of beautiful green lawns, big shade trees, and a meandering stream. Some of the biggest events of the year are hosted here.
Even so, I think this park is SO big that some of us (ME!) don't even know everything it has to offer! Did you know it has 2 playgrounds? A skate park? A mini railroad (that you can actually ride)? I have to admit I didn't until we'd been here in town for almost a whole year. Check out my first post about this park and you'll see I missed a few things! And things have changed a little bit since then too!

To access the East Side of Mills Park, the best parking is on Seely road, just off Saliman near the High School. The parking lot here is HUGE, and puts you right next to the playground and the railroad depot. This playground has several fun features, including lots of slides and even some swings. None of the play elements are particularly large or overly challenging, so I think this would be a fun park even for littler children.
There are restrooms nearby, though they haven't been open every time we've visited. The time they were closed though, porta-potties were stationed nearby.
Also located on the East side of the park are the skate park, sand volleyball, horseshoes, a large picnic pavilion, an exercise trail, and the Railroad (and probably more fun that I'm forgetting). Riding the train is a cheap and super fun family activity! Check out the Carson City Railroad Association's facebook page for updates on prices and running times.
When it's open, there is also a really neat miniature railroad display inside the CCRA building. Our kids loved checking it out!
