Mills Park - Carson City

We ended up arriving about an hour too early for Lego club a few weeks ago, so we headed across the street to Mills Park to fill the time. This is a huge park, with a bit of something for everyone.

On this visit we spent most of our time at the play ground, but this park also offers a skate park, horseshoe courts, tennis courts, sand volleyball, and lots of great open space along a pretty little stream. To access the playground, the closest parking is on Mills Park Ln, off of Palo Verde Dr. You can also park on Oxby Loop, it's a slightly longer walk, but not bad. The main problem with this is getting your kids past the hypnotic effects of the stream as you cross it. :)
There are restrooms at the park, right by the playground, but they are often closed due to the large events frequently held here. There's a porta-potty available, but if your kids are like mine they won't go near those things.
There are swings, ride-on toys, and a play structure in in the playground area. The kids enjoyed playing here, but it is kind of old and worn out. There is a place where there used to be a slide, but it's boarded up. There is also a ladder, presumably for access to some monkey bars, but it now leads nowhere. My kids didn't seem to even notice these things, but I felt the whole play area had a somewhat grungy atmosphere.
Near the playground there are several picnic tables, including several under a pavilion. The only BBQ grills I saw were near the pavilion, but there might be more spread throughout the park.
