South Valleys Library - Reno

We are always looking for fun new places to see around here, so on our way home from a Reno Pops concert the other day we decided to stop by the South Valleys Library and check it out. Located in the middle of a large park that has lots to offer in and of itself, this library is a great location for families!

Located near Highway 580 on the South end of Reno, this library has lots of great stuff for every member of your family. I'll be focusing on the offerings for children, but they also had a great Teen area, and lots of neat things for adults as well.

In the children's section, you can find a good variety of materials and activities for your little ones. They have computers with educational games, puzzles, fun magnets, and more. The book selection also looked really nice.
The STEAM Spot was a fun little corner filled with all kinds of great activities for the kids to do. There was a basket filled with nature items (pinecones, feathers, rocks, etc) that the kids could explore and investigate. There were marble runs and building toys. Our 7 year old was in heaven!
We also found this great little cart filled with giant sized versions of many favorite storybooks. These would be perfect for reading with a group.
There is a bathroom located right by the reference desk in the children's area. It has a child-sized toilet (always an exciting discovery when you're 2 years old), and everything is set up to be easily accessible to little people.

This library also has a lot to offer as far as organized activities go. I was really impressed with all the events advertised on the bulletin board when we first walked in. Here is a link to their calendar of kids activities so you can check it out for yourself!
