Splash Pad - Minden Park - Minden

The Minden Splash Pad has been one of our favorite hang-out spots this summer! It's new this year, so we were excited to check it out and we weren't disappointed!

Located at the Minden Park, this little splash pad is a lot of fun. It's pretty easy to get to as well. Parking is street side all around the block that encompasses the park. Depending on the time of day you can often find a tree-shaded place to park which it always a nice bonus. The park has nice shade trees and picnic tables around the outside edges of the square, with the splash pad and gazebo located near the center. Under the gazebo are public restrooms that (in our experience) have always been clean and well maintained. There is a drinking fountain located inside the restroom, but no changing table. Another note: the bathroom door knobs will remain locked even when the restroom is open making it seem like you can't go in. Just push the door open and go right on in (there are stalls inside, don't worry).
As far as the Splash Pad itself, it is quite comparable to the one in Carson City at McFadden Plaza (read more about that one here). It is a series of water jets that spray straight up out of the cement pad. There aren't any additional play features, but the kids don't seem to mind. If the water isn't running when you arrive, all you have to do is stand barefooted on the black circle in the pad by the bench and the fun will begin!
The reason we choose this splash pad over the one in Carson City is because of all the grass and shade trees. Moms can throw some blankets or chairs on the grass in the shade while the kids run and play to their hearts' content. If they get bored with the splash pad there is plenty of space to run around until they're ready to get back in the water again.
