Davis Creek Regional Park - Washoe Valley

Early this springs we made our first visit up to Davis Creek Regional Park in Washoe Valley and fell in love with it! Have you been here yet?

Long Ranch Park - Carson City

Carson City has so many great parks! Long Ranch Park is one of the really good ones! Tucked back in Kings Canyon, this park feels a little out of the way, but it's really only a few minutes away from downtown Carson City.

Mills Park (East Side) - Carson City

I think most people know about Mills Park here in Carson City. It's huge! It's full of beautiful green lawns, big shade trees, and a meandering stream. Some of the biggest events of the year are hosted here.
Even so, I think this park is SO big that some of us (ME!) don't even know everything it has to offer! Did you know it has 2 playgrounds? A skate park? A mini railroad (that you can actually ride)? I have to admit I didn't until we'd been here in town for almost a whole year. Check out my first post about this park and you'll see I missed a few things! And things have changed a little bit since then too!

Nevada Beach - Lake Tahoe

Nevada Beach was the first Tahoe beach we visited as a family, and we've been back many times since. If you want to enjoy a day at the lake this might be just the place for you! You certainly can't beat the view!

Ronald D. Wilson Memorial Park - Carson City

This is another one of the parks that we discovered in our attempt last summer to visit all the parks with playgrounds in Carson City. It's right by the freeway, but I'd never had any idea that it was even there!

Sunland Vista Park - Carson City

This little gem of a park was a fun discovery! Tucked back in a fairly quiet neighborhood it packs a fair amount of fun into a small space!

Monte Vista Park - Carson City

Over the summer we tried to visit as many of the Carson City Parks as we could. I don't think we got to all of them (not by a long shot), but we sure tried! This park is little, but pretty nice if you're in the area and your kids need to get outside and get moving.

Tahoe Rim Trail from Spooner Summit - Lake Tahoe

We love finding nice kid-friendly hikes! We spent a couple of hours hiking and enjoying being outside on the Tahoe Rim Trail near Spooner Summit last summer, and you should too!

Pete Livermore Sports Complex - Carson City

Last summer my son played baseball through the Junior Giants program and had a blast. All practices and games were held at the Pete Livermore Sports Complex, so we had plenty of time to explore!

Splash Pad - Minden Park - Minden

The Minden Splash Pad has been one of our favorite hang-out spots this summer! It's new this year, so we were excited to check it out and we weren't disappointed!

Junior Giants Baseball League - Carson City

Our oldest child desperately wanted to play Baseball this spring, but with scheduling and other conflicts we just weren't able to make it happen. He was pretty disappointed. Imagine our surprise and delight when we discovered a summer baseball league here in Carson City that worked perfectly with our schedule and is completely FREE!

Mason Valley Fish Hatchery - Yerington

The same day that we attended the Carson Valley Days Parade, and visited Ft. Churchill State Park, we did a little wandering around just for the fun of seeing some new country we'd never visited before. We found ourselves driving past the Mason Valley Wildlife Management Area, which might not have drawn us off the main road, but then we saw the sign for the Mason Valley Fish Hatchery. Most people wouldn't find that to be a big draw, but our family lived at a fish hatchery for several years for my husband's job and now we can't drive past one without stopping in. We're nerds, I know.

UC Davis Tahoe Science Center - Incline Village

After a recent trip up to Nevada Beach we decided to do a little exploring and check out the UC Davis Tahoe Science Center. This was a fun little stop to learn more about the amazing environment up there, and it was totally free!

Sierra Canyon Trail - Genoa

We've been wanting to do some more hiking around Genoa for a while now, so we read about some of the trails and decided this one sounded like the kids would be able to handle it. It turned out to be a fun hike and, while not flat, is probably something most little kids could handle. We loved getting a little elevation over Genoa for a great view of the Carson Valley!

Airport Open House 2019 - Carson City

Carson City's annual Airport Open House is a really amazing event for kids of all ages! If you haven't been to one yet we highly recommend it!

Fay-Luther Trail - Gardnerville

Okay, so I have to admit I wasn't along for the adventure on this one. My excellent Hubby took the kids on a hike on a day when I was under the weather, and was awesome enough to take pictures and provide me with the information for this post. If you're looking for a great place to take the kids hiking, I'm told this is it!

Nevada Outdoor Experience 2019- Carson City

One of the very first community events we attended after we moved to Carson City was the Nevada Outdoor Experience, and I can't imagine us NOT going back every year from now on. This was our second year attending this event and we had just as much fun this year as last year.

Carson Valley Days Parade - Minden

2019 was our second year attending the Carson Valley Days Parade, and both times it has been a lot of fun! We definitely hope to be able to go back again next year! Somehow though, when I went to write this post, I found I'd managed to delete all but one of my pictures from this year! :( I've thrown in a couple from last year as well to help round things out.

Harmony Park - Brewery Arts Center - Carson City

I saw something this winter on the Brewery Arts Center's Instagram feed about a music garden and couldn't wait for the snow to melt so we could go check it out. This small garden really packs a punch and is well worth a visit, or two!

East Brockliss Loop - River Fork Ranch - Genoa

We've been so excited to get outside as the weather will let us this Spring. We had a nice sunshiny day and nothing to do, so we decided to head down to the River Fork Ranch and explore the Brockliss Loop.
