While looking around online for things to do as a family, my husband noticed that one of our local parks has a disc (frisbee) golf course. We decided to head over there and check it out. It turned out to be a bit rugged for our littles, but looked like a lot of fun for those with older kids or just adults.
Located on the hillside over James Lee Memorial Park, this is a 27 hole course that covers at least 2 miles. The best place to park for the course is at the far end of the south parking lot. It took a bit of hunting around before we found the start of the course and, to be honest, we never did find the tee location for the first hole. I have read online that there are supposed to be maps/info for the course at the first tee.
Looking from the general area of the start of the course, back down to the parking lot. |
The views out over the park were nice, and I'd imagine they get even better as you progress through the course. For a more detailed description of the course this is the most informative website I've found.
Starting from the 3rd tee, things started to get a little rough for little players. That basket is located in a thicket of sagebrush that was not really accessible to little kids. We called it quits and headed over to the playground for some fun there instead. For those with sturdy shoes, a supply of water, and a sense of adventure I do really think the rest of the course would be a lot of fun to play through.
