Carson Lanes Family Fun Center - Carson City

When I found out there was a way to enjoy free bowling with my kids all summer long, I just knew I had to sign up! We ended up getting busy and only took advantage of the Kids Bowl Free program once before the end of the summer but hey, one free bowling visit is better than none, right? The kids absolutely loved it and can't wait to go back again!

While Carson Lanes is clearly visible from the main highway, you actually have to access it via the frontage rd. Once you get there, there is plenty of fun to be had. There are 28 lanes, so it is hard to imagine the place filling up completely, except maybe weekend evenings. During the day time we nearly had the place to ourselves. I loved how kid-friendly everything was. They put the bumpers up for my little first-time bowlers, and they also had 3 slides for littles to use so that they could actually get the ball rolling with enough force to make it to the end of the lane. These are free of charge, and available on a first-come first-served basis. They have a limited number of children's sized balls, so they prefer to only give one per lane (unless you are having a party or it's a really slow day). They also do not offer shoe rentals in anything smaller than a children's size 6, but that worked out fine for us.
We did have one or two technical malfunctions, but they were quick to get us up and rolling again. The staff were all very friendly and eager to help. As far as amenities go, there are nice bathrooms right by the bowling lanes, and if you ask at the front desk they will give you booties to cover your bowling shoes so you don't have to change your shoes. There was not a changing table in the bathroom. There are no drinking fountains in the bowling area. All food/drink is across the corridor in the Alley's Diner (or one of the other restaurants in the building).
Inside the Carson Lanes building, in addition to the bowling alley, there are several other fun options available to you. I've already mentioned the diner, but there is also an arcade, a more high-end lounge, a pizza place, Johnny Rockets (burgers, shakes, etc), and Kernel's Popcorn. The Genoa Candy and Coffee Co located here appears to have gone out of business. :(
I had a hard time when planning our visit finding information about operating hours and prices, so I asked about a website where this information could be found. I guess their official website is under construction, so for now the only option is their Facebook page. It is possible to find hours/prices listed there but it takes some digging, so I snapped a picture of the flyer they had at the front desk. Here is a link to the times for their $1.50 bowling times.
