Water Fun at Mills Park - Carson City

Are your kids driving you up the walls with their boredom? Are you looking for a free, fun way to pass a lazy summer afternoon? Do your kids love to splash in water more than life itself? I answered yes to all those questions, and if you did too than I might have just the thing for you! The creek in Mills Park

According to my research the water in the this little creek comes from the stream in King's Canyon, which is also a source for our city's drinking water (so it must be at least tolerably clean, right?). The creek winds it's way through the park, under the shade of the trees and it pretty to look at, but it can also be a ton of fun. If you're planning to play in the water it might be best to park on Oxby Loop so you don't have to try to get your kids past the sandy playground while they're all wet. :)
I brought a blanket to spread out on the grass and a good book, and made a nice spot for myself in the shade of a tree on the banks of the creek. I turned my kiddos loose in the stream and they had a marvelous time. We spent several hours here, and they were begging for more when we left. The water is cool, but not bitingly cold, so it's really refreshing on a hot day.
Supplies I plan on bringing next time I do this:
- a blanket
- sunscreen
- snacks/drinks
- water shoes for anyone who plans to go wading
- dry clothes and towels
- something for mom to do while she sits on the bank (I'm leaning towards a puzzle book, but will it be crossword puzzles or Sudoku? How do I choose?)
- water toys (bucket, cups/scoops, boats, etc)
