California Trail aka Genoa Vista Trail - Genoa

We love the little town of Genoa, Nevada. It is absolutely beautiful, all nestled back in the foothills with a great view out over the valley. Someday when we're millionaires we're going to live here. What? A girl can dream, right?! When I had the chance a few weeks ago to go down to Genoa for a stroller hike along the California Trail with some other moms from town I jumped at the opportunity. It was a beautiful day and a really fun walk for the kids and I!
This trail can be picked up anywhere in the town of  Genoa, since the sidewalk on the East side of Main Street morphs seamlessly into the trail. When we did this hike we started at the Genoa Country Store and walked all the way to the end of the trail at David Walley's Resort. This ended up being approximately 1.5 miles one way, for a 3 mile round trip. The trail is paved all the way (though there are places where the town sidewalk gets a little rough before you reach the actual trail) making it ideal for strollers. I believe bikes are also allowed, but I'm not positive.

The trail is mostly level, though there is a gentle slope shortly after you leave town. The road parallels Foothills Road (hwy 206) the entire way, but is far enough from it you don't need to worry about keeping kids or pets out of traffic.
There are no restrooms or drinking fountains readily available along the route, but I believe there are public restrooms at Mormon Station State Park that one could use if needed. There is a bench part way down the trail in case you or your little need to take a break.
