While out scouting around for Book Exchange Boxes one day we stumbled across John Mankins Park. The kids saw it before I did and went NUTS! This is one super cool park, and definitely worth stopping in for some fun.
This park, which I have also heard referred to as the Silver Oaks Park, has two separate play structures for differing age/ability levels. I've found though that even my 2 year old prefers the larger structure, even if there are some elements she isn't yet able to navigate. Frankly there are a few things here that even my 4 year old struggles with, but that doesn't dampen her enthusiasm here at all.
One thing I love about this park is that there are shaded benches for the parents to park on. SHADE! It's the best! :)
This park also features a baseball diamond, 2 half basketball courts, a skate park, green space, picnic tables & gazebo, and a walking path. There are no brick and mortar bathrooms, but there is a semi-permanent porta-potty installation near the corners of Oakridge Drive and College Parkway. I also don't recall seeing any drinking fountains. Parking is in angled parking spaces on the side of the street. Several handicap spaces are available.
