The second new park we visited over Spring Break was Sonoma Park. It has one thing that sets it apart from many of the other parks in Carson City. Have you noticed how few of the parks here have swings? If that's what your kid loves, than this might be just the park for you!
Located between Sonoma St and Stafford Way, this park isn't too hard to find. For the easiest access to the play area you'll want to come at the park from the Stafford side. There is only street-side parking, but there's plenty to be had. This park is also a dog-friendly park, with everything not fenced off for the play ground being open game for the puppies and their people. One perk of that is that the play area is surrounded by fencing, which makes things a lot easier if you have a child who is a runner. :)
As far as amenities go, this park is not terribly well endowed. There is one drinking fountain, one picnic table, a couple of benches, and a porta-potty (no "real" bathrooms). It does have some nice trees around, so I would guess that in the summer time there is at least a little bit of shade.Unlike many of the parks around here (which often have separate big kid/little kid structures), this playground only has one play structure which seemed geared more towards older kids (although my 3 year old handled it fine).
