The other day we were itching to get out of the house and go somewhere fun so we decided to head up the hill to Lake Tahoe. We knew it would be pretty cold for being outside, so we looked up a few fun places we could go in case the kids got too cold. After walking the beach at Zephyr Cove the kids were ready to get inside somewhere, so we headed over to South Lake Tahoe and visited the El Dorado County Library there. This is hands-down our favorite public library that we have visited since moving to Northern Nevada. They have SO much to offer little kids!
Located just across the street from the southern shore of Lake Tahoe, this library is easy to find. The free parking lot has plenty of space (but is ONLY for library visitors), which can be hard to find around the lake.
Once you get inside there is such a great variety of activities for littles to enjoy!
Our kids absolutely love the kitchen play area. There are so many different kinds of foods, and all the dishes/utensil one needs to "cook" a feast. They could play here happily for hours! There area also toys and puzzles for all ages scattered around the children's side of the library.
They have everything you could want; from blocks and dinosaurs to toddler activity tables and more!
One feature at this library that I love, but that you won't see unless you explore a bit, is the Infant Center. This area is just for babies and their caregivers so they can play without worry of escape or getting trampled by the big kids. It's kind of tucked back behind some book shelves though, so you have to go looking for it.
Another fun feature that is kind of out of the way is this fun magnet wall. My kids love to play with the magnetic gears to see how many they can get connected and still be able to get moving.
So, if you find yourself in the Lake Tahoe area and in need of a warm dry place to take your kids for a while, this might just be the place for you!
