One of the very first community events we attended after we moved to Carson City was the Nevada Outdoor Experience, and I can't imagine us NOT going back every year from now on. This was our second year attending this event and we had just as much fun this year as last year.
Sponsored by the Wild Sheep Foundation and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, the goal of the FREE event is to excite and inspire the next generation of outdoor enthusiasts. There are all kinds of really fun activities, including bow and arrow, rock climbing, panning for gold, milking a cow, shooting guns, shooting slingshots, and so much more!
Not only is admission free at this event, but there are several other really great free perks as well. Every child in attendance is given raffle tickets to put into whichever drawing they choose. The prizes are great things like tents, BB guns, binoculars, barbie dolls, etc.Every child also will go home with TONS of free stuff. Hats, duck calls, key chains, stickers, and so much more!
Every attendee is also given a free lunch both years we've gone this has been hot dogs chips and soda. There is a small indoor eating area, some outside picnic tables, and if all else fails there's grass to sit on.
The Outdoor Experience is held at the Capitol City Gun Club. It's all outdoors so bring water and sunscreen! The terrain is stroller friendly. Parking is a little limited, but you'll want to get there early to beat the heat anyways. There are porta-potties in the parking lot and restrooms in the small building where the lunches are served.
